Yvonne and Debbie have been preparing for the 2019 We The Youth class. This year they will be focusing on the theme Leadership Rocks and how that applies to the many aspects of servant leadership. WTY is looking to fill this year’s class with six to eight students from each county high school. During their preparations, Yvonne and Debbie discussed various changes that they were considering for 2019. This year WTY will hold their meetings once a month on a Saturday or Sunday. This change came about so that students wouldn’t have to worry about missing class time at school, homework time, test prep and so on. Students chosen for the program will be rewarded for class attendance and group participation with one excused absence from school at the end of each semester.

Another change the WTY class of 2019 can expect is many opportunities to serve our community. In the past WTY has chosen one or two projects to complete at the end of the class. However, in the last year or two, classes have desired smaller projects to work on through the year. Yvonne and Debbie decided to continue with this trend by adding small projects that would coincide with the Servant Leadership skill on the agenda each month.

Some things will remain the same for WTY. Food, fun and fellowship will continue to be a part of each class. WTY will also continue to primarily meet at the Awareness Washington County building. They will also continue to invite various members of the community share their Servant Leadership stories with the class.

Any student who is interested in the class can find the application below. You may also contact Yvonne or Debbie and they will get one to you. When applications are turned in they must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation. Registration deadline is August 31. WTY and Awareness Washington County will help provide transportation to class for students as needed. There is also tuition assistance available. Tuition for the class is $100.

If you have any questions about the We The Youth class or WTY Alumni group please give Yvonne or Debbie a call.
